Founded in 1851 as a wholesaler of products arriving from the American colonies, Casa Gispert soon specialized in roasting dried fruits. This activity has gone on uninterrupted ‘till today and the quality of the dried fruits and other delicatessen produced by the firm is widely acclaimed.
This is due to two main factors. To start with, they only select the best almonds, hazelnuts and pine nuts cultivated in Catalonia. Secondly, the dried fruits are roasted in a fire wood oven –unique in Europe- which is located in the shop that Casa Gispert occupies right in the heart of Barcelona’s gothic quarter.
In this case, the end result is an almond of intense flavour ideal to enjoy as an aperitif or as a healthy nibble.
